Melissa Ansbury kicked the chair across her dining room. It was lying sideways on the floor next to the basket of magazines that were now strewn across the floor as well.  When the chair hit the wall, the leg snapped and a picture of her as a child fell to the ground. The noise of the glass shattering made her jump. Melissa sighed. Now she only had three chairs. The entire house was in shambles.

“Goddamnit.”  She whispered. This was the second time in six months her house had been broken into.    The morning sunlight was just beginning to shine through the curtains of Melissa’s living room window. She could see dust floating in the air of the light rays shining in. The room was still dark, and she hadn’t been through the house yet to make sure whoever was here before was not here now. She leaned forward to look around the corner and into the hallway. She stepped over her broken lamp on the floor, and over to the fireplace. The only weapon in her house was the metal rod she kept by the fireplace for stoking up the flames. She gripped the handle of the rod tightly with both hands and lifted the sharp end up beside her head so that she could swing it like a bat. She stepped past her television stand towards the entrance to the hallway. When she looked at the where her television had once sat six months ago, she noticed that now there was only an outline of dust where her VCR was supposed to be. The first burglars had at least left her the hand-me-down 25 year old VCR, but the crew this time, hadn’t done her the favor.

“They took my VCR that’s older than I am?” Most people are upgrading to BluRay from DVD these days.  Here she was still stuck in the dark ages of movie watching, and these scumbags had the nerve to steal her VCR.  She was still shaking her head when she stumbled over a small pile of some clothes that was just beyond the hallway entrance in the dark. She hit the hard floor on her right elbow and couldn’t control the cry of pain that let out when she landed. Her left hand reached over quickly to cradle the right elbow. She sat very still for a moment waiting to see if she’d hear anything coming from the back of the house. If there was any burglars still inside, they must have heard that fall. She sat there, perfectly still. The only movement was the rapid rise and fall of her chest. Melissa was scared now. She knew she was going to have to call the police. As soon as the call would be dispatched, she knew Chris Wutherford would be calling her.

Chris was the Greenwood Police Detective she had been sleeping with for the last year. Chris was married. Melissa had tried to make things right with him. Honestly, she just loved him. She loved him, but she didn’t want to talk to him anymore after last night.  People in the small town of Greenwood, Mississippi were beginning to pick up on their affair anyway. It wasn’t making life any easier for Melissa.  Melissa was constantly looking over her shoulder for Stephanie Wutherford, Chris’s wife of 8 years.

Melissa picked up the cordless phone to walk out front and call the police. Melissa ‘s voice was ragged and uneven. She gave her name and address, hoping that the dispatcher she was speaking to wasn’t one that was a friend of Chris’s wife. The dispatcher advised Melissa to wait outside of the home until the officers arrived. As tough as she thought she was, she didn’t want to stand in that house all by herself. She was relieved to obey the instructions to wait outside.

Hopefully, the butterflies in my stomach won’t keep me from playing well, I know I’ll be smiling like some doped up idiot though!

I just can’t get over it!

The audition invite said, casual attire, but I’m thinking a cute little skirt or sundress, nothing too flashy but I don’t want to show up in torn jeans and a tank top (this is a family show ppl)
